HAFLONG: Officials in the DCP's office of Haflong hosted a meeting on Tuesday with Nandita Gorlosa, the local MLA, to discuss the drug trafficking and seizure situation across the district. And she mentioned that the state administration has no tolerance for drug usage.

Nandita Gorlosa is the Minister for Power, Cooperation, and Mines in Assam the Assam Cabinet. She expressed her concerns about the use of narcotic substances among college students in the Dima Hasao district.

"In an effort to stop drug trafficking, police are constantly on the lookout and often seize shipments from various regions of the state. However, it is impossible to totally halt drug smuggling. The fact that college kids in the hill district are drug addicts is surprising, "said the minister on Tuesday.

Senior members of the police department and security forces, including the commandant of the 5th Assam Police Battalion and a representative of the 11th Assam Rifles, DSP (Sadar), and an assistant commissioner for the district, as well as DC (Dima Hasao) Nazreen Ahmed, attended this meeting.

According to Nandita Gorlosa, the police and security forces' combined efforts will definitely help to curb the drug problem. She also asked parents to exercise greater caution. She gave the administration orders to punish drug users and suppliers more severely, otherwise, the youth of the region will be pushed to the point of no return.

Following the meeting, the minister visited the Haflong Sub-Jail with DC Ahmed and spoke with inmates who were younger than 24 years old.

Additionally, the Dima Hasao police seized a huge quantity of heroin earlier this month. Haflong police seized 10.58 heroin along with 331 grams of ganja according to the reports. The police led by the Deputy Superintendent of Police of Dima Hasao district conducted a raid and seized two motorcycles near Longma village while they were coming from Haflong on two motorcycles in Mahur and seized suspected heroin and ganja from four youths. Police also arrested four youths.
